Yesterday Amazon announced the 20 municipalities selected to move to the second phase of the Amazon HQ2 bid. Unfortunately, Halifax did not make the list. We knew from the outset that this was a highly competitive opportunity which captured the interest and imagination of 238 communities from across the US, Canada and Mexico. The Halifax Partnership, working with HRM, NSBI, Discover Halifax and others, submitted a solid proposal that has raised the calibre of Halifax’s pitch and the capability and confidence of our community.  To see Halifax’s full HQ2 proposal, visit:

All the work done for the Amazon bid is currently being used for other proposals to attract business investment to our city. As Amazon stated in their media release, they will be considering the communities that bid for future infrastructure investment and job creation. We know Halifax has a great value proposition. Halifax is a connected, innovative, liveable and affordable city that offers competitive talent, location and cost advantages for global companies. Halifax is ready to respond to new opportunities and the Partnership is proactively pursuing other major companies.

Amazon was an excellent example of all levels of government and the private sector working together to pitch Canada and Halifax. We look forward to working with our partners to continue strengthening Halifax’s value proposition and selling our city to the world.
