Halifax is forecast to be the fourth fastest growing city in the country in 2015, according to the Conference Board of Canada. Widespread growth across a number of sectors is being led by the beginning of work at the Halifax Shipyard on the $29 billion NSPS Shipbuilding Project.

 Increasing Nova Scotia exports to Asian destinations has boosted the amount of cargo moving through the Halifax Airport to its highest level ever in 2014. Lobster export growth in particular has been so strong that Korean Air Cargo has established a weekly flight to the Halifax Airport, transporting up to 50 tonnes of live lobster each trip.

Together, these companies attracted more than $26 million in investment last year and employ over 1,000 people.

Coin - 200x200                                                                                                                                                                              Halifax's strong economy is supporting $129 billion in Major Projects in Atlantic Canada. This is due to projects like the NSPS Shipbuilding project at the Halifax Shipyard, construction of the Nova Centre, and the Big Lift on the MacDonald Bridge. Spending on Major projects is expected to increase by as much as 20% next year as work continues to ramp up at the Irving Shipyard and Shell increases spending on offshore oil exploration.
