Captain(N) P.W. Paul Forget, CD

Born in Cornwall, Ontario, Captain(N) Forget joined the Canadian Forces in 1987 as an Officer Cadet at Collège Militaire Royal de St-Jean, Québec. He later graduated in 1992 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Administration and accepted his commission as a MARS Officer. 

On completion of his naval training, he served in Her Majesty’s Canadian Ships MONTREAL (Bridge Watch Keeper (BWK), 1993-1995), CHARLOTTETOWN (Anti-Submarine Warfare Officer (ASWO), 1996-1998), WINNIPEG and VANCOUVER (Operations Room Officer (ORO), 2001-2002), and CALGARY (Combat Officer (CbtO), 2002-2004).

His shore duties included Canadian Forces Naval Operations School (CFNOS) as Target Motion Analysis Instructor (1998), then again as an ORO student in 2000, CbtO for Maritime Operations Group Four (2004-2006), and Maritime Staff at National Defense Headquarters (2008). Prior to this, he was selected to attend Staff College at the Canadian Forces College in Toronto where he earned his Master’s Diploma in Defense Studies. 

In 2008, he was selected and appointed as the Executive Officer of HMCS TORONTO (FFH 333). In 2009, he was appointed as Chief of Operations for the Commander of the Canadian Fleet Atlantic which included a deployment as Chief of Staff to the Maritime Component Commander in support of Op HESTIA in 2010.

In December 2010, Captain(N) Forget was appointed as Commanding Officer of HMCS TORONTO, and subsequently appointed, in July 2012, as the Commandant of CFNOS. In 2014, he was promoted to his current rank and appointed as J1 at Canadian Joint Operations Command. He is currently appointed as the Base Commander of CFB Halifax, where he resides with his wife and four children.
