Independent Producer and Project Manager
Erika Beatty loves working as a freelance producer and project manager, connecting with others who create intriguing projects and get things done. Recently work (behind a camera as well as in front of a laptop) has taken her from the Philippines to Provence. For the twenty years before that, Erika managed Canadian professional orchestras. Her hallmark was integrating strategic innovation and new technology into a centuries old art form. Her work created partnerships, developed audiences, brought in new revenue, and created sustainable operations. In 2012, Beatty received the Canada Council's John Hobday Award for Excellence in Arts Management. This gave her an introduction to Grammy, Emmy and Juno award winning concert filmmakers Pierre and Francois Lamoureux in New York. Building on her experience as a live event producer, she assists and co-produces film projects and live events with a focus on digital distribution of "alternative content".
Erika Beatty earned a degree in finance and economics from the University of Western Ontario and studied theatre production at The Banff Centre. She is a board member for the Greater Halifax Partnership, a founding member of the Greater Halifax Arts Coalition, and served as a national trustee for Orchestras Canada and the Canadian Conference of the Arts.
