Ron L'Esperance enjoyed a twenty eight year career with the Province of Nova Scotia. 

His last position with the Province was as Deputy Minister of the Department of Environment and Labour, and, at that time, Ron was also responsible for the province's regulatory affairs vertical.  

While Deputy Minister of Labour, Ron was asked by the federal Department of Labour to lead the Canadian Delegation to the International Labour Organization in Geneva, Switzerland, in the negotiation of an international convention on human resource development. 

Ron previously served as the Deputy Minister of Economic Development for Nova Scotia and as Deputy Minister of the Department of Community Services.

Since leaving government, Ron has had a diverse consultancy practice, first, joining CFN Consultants in Ottawa and serving as founder and President of CFN’s Atlantic Office, serving the Region from Halifax.

During this time, Ron also served as a Canadian in-market partner and consultant to International Business Wales, the international economic development arm of the Welsh Assembly Government.

More recently, Ron has established a diversified, new consultancy, Group ATN Consulting Inc. with a local partner and several associates. Group ATN works in three key areas – public sector clients, private sector clients and Aboriginal organizations.

Ron is an entrepreneur at heart and is also involved in several businesses.

Ron has worked extensively in a broad range of sectors including advanced manufacturing, the renewable energy sector, cultural and creative industries, the agriculture and fisheries sectors and the aerospace and defence sector at the provincial, national and international levels. In addition, Ron has extensive experience in supporting Aboriginal and First Nation economic development.  

In 2008, Ron was asked to lead the Province’s celebration of 250 years of parliamentary democracy – a high profile partnership between Heritage Canada and the Province of Nova Scotia that garnered international attention and critical acclaim. This was undertaken with Co-chairs and former Premiers, Honourable John Hamm and Honourable Russell MacLellan. 

Ron believes in giving back to the community and has been actively involved in serving on community boards. In addition to his service with the GHP, Ron has served as Chair of the Board of Directors of the national organization, Food Banks Canada for two years and has also been involved with many local organizations. Group ATN Consulting is presently a supporter of the Brunswick Street Mission and Parker Street Food Bank. 

Ron has a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Education degrees from St. Mary's University and a Masters of Arts (in Education) from St. Mary's University and Boston College.

Ron and his wife Paula have four sons.
