Purpose:

This is a full-time term position through to June 30, 2019, with the possibility of extension. The Account Executive position is focused on building awareness of the Atlantic Immigration Pilot and identifying and connecting employers looking to fill labour gaps to Nova Scotia Office of Immigration (NSOI) for the support required to become a designated employer under the Pilot.

Account Executives are entrepreneurial with excellent communication and interpersonal skills and possess a proven track record in the area of business development, sales, recruitment and/or labour market development. They have experience in establishing and maintaining relationships with a variety of external businesses, working groups, and associations.

The Account Executive is responsible for conducting business visits, collecting information that will assist in identifying business and labour market issues and making the connection between service providers and business groups to resolve issues and barriers to growth.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Research and identify industries and sectors facing pressing labour market challenges.
  • Identify employers facing specific labour market shortage and meet face to face to gain a greater understanding of their specific needs and challenges.
  • Work collaboratively with NSOI and partners to raise awareness of the Atlantic Immigration Pilot through our respective marketing and communication channels.
  • Generate referrals to NSOI for employers to be approved for eligibility under the AIP (first by being designated and then having their positions endorsed).
  • Work collaboratively, provincially and interprovincially, with key economic development partners to share lessons learned and best practices on the rollout and implementation of the Pilot. Input and analyze the interview data to identify company-specific and common issues and opportunities and share the competitive intelligence with economic development partner organizations. A high level of accountability requiring weekly, monthly and quarterly reporting.
  • Through a structured referral system, make client connections to an Action Committee member, partner organization and/or community stakeholders to respond to and/or support the immediate threats and/or opportunities.
  • Ongoing dialogues with action team members and stakeholders to ensure referrals have been acted upon.
  • Develop and manage relationships with Greater Halifax’s Business Associations, including industry associations and the Halifax Chamber of Commerce.
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum five years’ professional experience in business, recruitment and/or economic development.
  • Undergraduate degree in business administration, marketing or another related discipline.
  • Communications and stakeholder relations experience is considered an asset
  • Ability to leverage relationships with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to collaborate with clients and partners across multiple organizations and community groups.
  • Knowledge and understanding of industry sectors in Greater Halifax.
  • Strong interviewing and questioning techniques with the ability to uncover underlying business retention and expansion and labour force issues.
  • Proven high-level verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent database management skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and cooperatively as part of a team to meet organizational objectives.
  • Superior time management and organizational skills with the ability to plan, organize and prioritize work for self is a must.
  • Excellent follow-up skills.
  • Superior attention to detail.
  • Strong facilitation skills.
