Position Overview:

Reporting to the Vice President, Trade, Investment and International Partnerships, the Sales Engineer, Innovation, is a dynamic, forward-thinking individual responsible for the following:

  • Identify companies that have the potential to:
    - Be global players with innovative and unique opportunities to accelerate growth.
    - Increase adoption of new technologies and processes to increase productivity.
    - Increase business capacity to enter into global markets and their value chain.
  • Work face to face with companies to accelerate the rate of identification, assessment, development and adoption of innovation-based solutions and/or products.
  • Connect companies to industry/academic partnership opportunities to solve business issues and challenges through collaborative R&D projects.
  • Connect companies to funding/investment opportunities to improve global competitiveness.
  • Drive broader awareness of innovation capabilities of businesses in Halifax.
  • Develop trusting working relationships with public, private, community and post-secondary stakeholders who are committed to implement innovation and transformation activities for Halifax.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field
  • 3+ years experience in business development role or B2B enterprise sales
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Strong customer relationship management skills.
  • Ability to make sound decisions.
  • Ability to solve complex problems with sound reasoning and independent judgment
  • Initiative to accomplish tasks.
  • Quantitative, analytical and problem-solving skills. 
  • Proven track record of building and maintaining effective stakeholder relationships.
  • You can see the big picture and know how to prioritize to achieve your goals.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, presentation and written communication skills
