As Chief Economist at the Halifax Partnership, Ian manages the Partnership’s research strategy to provide the most up-to-date competitive economic intelligence and analysis on the Halifax economy. Ian leads a team of economic researchers and policy analysts and also directs the work of the Partnership’s SmartBusiness team that connects local businesses to opportunities and resources.
Prior to the Partnership, Ian worked as an independent consultant based in Halifax. He has over 20 years of experience as a professional economist, including lengthy stints with Industry Canada’s spectrum management program and with CRA International, an economics consulting firm. More recently, Ian spent two years as the Director of Research at AIMS. He holds a B.A. in economics from Mount Allison University, an M.A. in public administration from Carleton University, and an M.A. in economics from Dalhousie University.
