About the Game Changers Awards

This year, we were pleased to announce that we received over 100 nominations for the second year of the Game Changers Awards. A total of nine awards will be presented on October 30, 2017 to deserving companies, organizations and individuals. 9 finalists and 3 winners will be chosen for both the Best Youth Employer (small, medium, large size businesses) and Experiential Learning awards (small, medium, large size businesses). 6 finalists will be chosen for the Super Connector awards and 3 for Connector Organization. 

The Best Youth Employer and Experiential Learning awards are judged by representatives from our sponsors and partners. The Connector award finalists and winners are selected by the Connector Program team. 

 

 

Award Criteria

Best Youth Employer Awards

Companies nominated for the Best Youth Employer awards are those that:

  • Have a demonstrated record of hiring young professionals
  • Participate in experiential learning programs (co-ops, internships, apprenticeships, etc.)
  • Provide fair compensation and benefits to youth employees
  • Have youth in leading or managerial roles
  • Provide an environment for professional development and advancement

Experiential Learning Awards

Companies nominated for the Experiential Learning awards are those that:

  • Have a demonstrated record of providing experiential learning opportunities for post-secondary students
  • Make contributions to other post-secondary initiatives
  • Provide a positive and enjoyable work environment that encourages learning and challenges students to succeed
  • Display leadership, and act in a mentorship role, which contributes to personal and professional growth for the student
  • Offer professional development opportunities for the student

Super Connector

An active Connector in the the Connector Program, Super Connectors are judged on:

  • Number of meeting with Connectees
  • Number of referrals for Connectees
  • Hires resulting from referrals

Connector Organization

Connector Organizations are determined by:

  • Number of active Connectors within each organization (>3)
  • Number of meetings with Connectees
  • Number of referrals for Connectees
  • Participate in Connector Program activities including speed interviewing, networking events, etc.
