Get Noticed by Halifax Employers
Are you a soon-to-be or recent graduate under 30? Want a chance to win $1,000 and get noticed by Halifax Employers?
From February 6 to midnight on March 5, 2017, submit your best elevator pitch telling Halifax employers why they need you on their team. What makes you stand out from the crowd? How are you a Game Changer for a business?
A panel of business leaders will select the top three pitches and award $1,000, $300 and $200 cash prizes to the best pitches. Finalists will also have the opportunity to give a "live" elevator pitch at the March 21st Game Changers #HireMeHalifax event where you will meet and network with 100+ Halifax employers. (Anyone who submits a pitch will receive an invitation to this exclusive event.)
How to Submit a Pitch
1. Shoot a 30 second video
Grab your smartphone and shoot a quick 30 second video telling Halifax employers how you'd be a Game Changer for their companies.
Your pitch should include:
- Your name
- Your degree and field of work (ie. communications, engineering, accounting, program development, etc.)
- Your career ambitions
- The type of company you want to work with
- Why you are the right person for the job or company. What makes you stand out? Include your relevant experience, soft and hard skills, passion, drive and enthusiasm.
- Video is no more than 30 seconds long
- Highlight your skills and what you have to offer a business
- Professional language and presentation
- Business attire
In other words, BE YOURSELF, but keep it professional. Think of it this way. If you met the CEO of your dream company and had only 30 seconds to introduce yourself, what would you say and how would you say it? What do you want them to remember about you?
2. Submit it!
Upload your video to YouTube and fill out the contest form below (or HERE).
All videos that meet the criteria will be posted on the Partnership's Facebook and Twitter platforms. This is your opportunity to pitch your skills to over 15,000+ people.
3. Attend the #HireMeHalifax Event
Come to our Game Changers: #HireMeHalifax event on March 21, 2017 for your chance to meet some of the top youth employers in Halifax. The best way to find a job is to get out there and meet people in your industry. FREE admission for students/recent graduates, the #HireMeHalifax event is a great opportunity to network and connect with employers in your field. At last year's event, many attendees landed interviews and some were even hired from the event!

There is also an opportunity to participate in the Networking Workshop just prior to the main event. Put on by our Connector Team, this workshop will teach you how to make a great first impression, successfully network and set yourself up for future success.
