#HireMeHalifax Pitch Contest

Congratulations to our #HireMeHalifax Video Contest winner Sean Myatt who took home the $1,000 cash prize. Our runners up were:

From February 6 - March 5, 2017, we challenged Halifax's young talent to submit their best elevator pitch and we received a total of 42 videos submissions. The contest winners were chosen at our #HireMeHalifax event on March 21st.

Each year on net, 1,300 young professionals leave our province - taking their ideas, talent and skills with them. Below is just a small sample of the talent Halifax has to offer. Every business has a role to play in retaining our youth.

Sean Myatt

(1st place)

Graduating from Graphic Design at NSCC, Sean is one of Halifax's game changers in communications, branding, and marketing wanting to integrate his skills to match the needs of the community.


Katie Fielden

(2nd place)

 Katie’s graduating from the Financial Services program at NSCC. Focused on results, she was awarded the most improved in her office of 2016. She can help grow your company by using her skills and dedication.


Emma Ross

(3rd place)


Emma is working toward her BBA through NSCC and MSVU. Her work in the theatre has fostered a strong sense of self-motivation, creative problem solving, and a dedication to delivering the very best every time.


Carleigh Milligan

(4th place)

Carleigh is graduating with her NSCC Business Administration diploma and is ready to make her mark in Halifax. She is ambitious, outgoing, and prepared for a challenge. She is a force to be reckoned with!

Naina Garg

Naina is an Honours student with multi-lingual skills. She demonstrates leadership through various women empowerment projects and an analytical aptitude through internationally-published research. Naina aims to establish herself as a monetary and financial policy analyst.  

Hazem Ajlani

Masters in Mechanical Engineering from Dalhousie University with a concentration in renewable energy resources, Hazem is passionate about renewable energy, particularly solar, wind, tidal, battery storage and smart grid. 


Matthew Allen

Matthew has integrity, creativity, great writing skills and over five years’ experience in a fast-paced work environment. Although he has a degree in Geography, Matthew looks forward to exploring other opportunities as well.  


Karley Brooking

Karley will graduate next spring with a BSc in Biology. She is passionate and hardworking, with exceptional communication and leadership skills. She is eager to bring her skills to a local company in the future.  


Barrinique Griffin

Barrinique has a BComm in Entrepreneurship, graduating from SMU as Valedictorian of her class in January. She is passionate about leadership, personal development and helping others reach their full potential. She aims to work with an innovative company and become a business leader in her field. 


Irene Hawco

Irene is graduating from the Office Administration program at the Nova Scotia Community College in June 2017. She is excited to meet new people and to be apart of a diverse business. 


Snehal Kumar

Snehal is a business analyst with six years of experience helping companies gain an edge in their business. He is looking for a firm that can use his strong technical, analytical and communication skills to shape business decisions.  


Yentl Yan Lee

Yentl is a recent graduate from the Communications program at MSVU. She has experience and skills in promoting brands, marketing, customer service, and building positive relationships with people from previous work experience in Halifax.   


Stephanie Peters

A recent Marketing grad, Stephanie has experience with copywriting, content creation, social media, graphic design and customer relations. She is looking to change the game with a bold company and become a marketing leader in Canada.

Anika Riopel

Anika is an energetic and enthusiastic jack-of-all-trades: environmental educator, cook, actor, and both a scuba diving and cycling instructor! She’s a soon-to-be graduate from Dalhousie with a Double Major with Honours in Sustainability and Theatre.  


Joy Samuel

A young professional with a Bachelor of Environmental Studies, Joy lives her passion for the environment daily through her actions and values. She strives to foster behavioural change in people through her chosen career. 


Hannah Vaughan

Hannah is a long-time member of the Canadian national team, now shifting her drive and dedication from kayak to communications. A soon-to-be PR graduate, Hannah is excited to put her multi-faceted skillset to work. 

Sam White

Sam is currently studying Management at Dalhousie University. Balancing two varsity sports, school work, and operating his own painting company, Sam is an organized and detail oriented person with vast experience in customer relations.  


Monami Yamada

Currently an MSVU Marketing and IT student, Monami has a strong desire to learn more and grow further in her favourite city - Halifax. She’s ready for her professional career to take off!
