HALIFAX, NS, June 30, 2015 – The Halifax Partnership and the Canadian-Lebanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry announced today a partnership aimed at retaining internationally-trained professionals in Halifax. The Canadian-Lebanese Chamber will be sponsoring 10 internationally-trained professionals from the Lebanese community to participate in the Halifax Partnership’s Connector Program.
"The Connector Program is a world-class program and we're honoured to play our part," says Norman Nahas, President, Canadian-Lebanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, "We as a business community feel it's our responsibility to create the jobs and retain and attract talent from abroad."
The Partnership’s Connector Program is a highly effective networking program that connects local business leaders (Connectors) with immigrants, local and international graduates (Connectees) in their industry. Through the program, Connectees rapidly grow their professional network which increases their likelihood of finding a job and staying in Halifax. Connectors benefit from cultivating new local talent which strengthens their industry and Halifax’s workforce.
"We need to retain more talented people in order to grow Halifax’s population and economy,” says Fred Morley, Executive Vice President and Chief Economist, Halifax Partnership. "This partnership with the Canadian-Lebanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry is a great example of the business community’s leadership in welcoming immigrants, local and international graduates into our workforce and community.”
